For Ballet, form-fitting clothes are a must. The teacher has to be able to see the lines of your body to make sure you’re performing the movement correctly. Simplicity 8424, the pattern that I choose, has several simply adorable pieces.
For the leggings, I used view C. The ties around the ankles really add to the charm. I found a ton of this mauve fabric, again from the Wal-Mart bargain bin. (There’s still more left, so I’ll be making more pieces to match.) Underneath, I’m just wearing a gray RTW camisole.
For Tap class, it’s a similar color palette to the ballet ensemble. I made this sweatshirt to coordinate with those pieces. I think this fabric was in a Sincerely Rylee bundle. I used Butterick 6996 view A.
The collar piece was a little bit fussy, and I didn’t add the front pockets as the pattern showed. It was just too annoying and I didn’t want to deal with it. It’s hard to tell because of the busy print, but this pattern has princess seams down the front. It’s not the most flattering garment, but it’s nice and comfortable. Like the other pieces, it wasn’t too difficult overall. The light pink leggings are by Fabletics from Ross Dress for Less.
And I’ll call this last ensemble the yoga class outfit. The blue sweatpants are from Ross and I can’t remember the brand. I love them a lot. The smooth fabric and comfortable fit make these perfect for lounging.
The sweater is view F from Simplicity 8424. This pattern was very simple. I just serged the sleeves, the shoulders, and the sides. Then I just hemmed the bottom and the sleeves, and lastly I added the neckline band. This sweater knit fabric was from a bundle from Sincerely Rylee. The color is inbetween a mauve and a tan. While I wouldn’t have picked this color myself and I have never sewn something with this silhouette, I’m obsessed with the final look.
Also, don’t mind the gratuitous hair shot. I just love this photo.
I really enjoyed putting these looks together and styling this shoot. My roommate had bought a ballet barre, so I took full advantage for these photos.
Thanks so much for reading!
Yours in hard work, creativity, and a dash of Pixie Dust
