This
cape is wonderfully warm. But it is harder to keep your hands and
lower arms warm. Coats are better for this purpose. I especially love
the hood with attached long scarf. It adds the perfect amount of
glamour to this otherwise quite utilitarian cape. I keep imagining
myself as Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn or another star of that era.
And then I laugh at myself and move along.
But also, I still want
some black huge movie star sunglasses for when I need to hide away
from the paparazzi. Someday, this will happen. For
now, these white Target sunglasses I found on clearance for $3 will have to suffice.
This
fleece was from Joann's. For some reason, I thought I wanted a huge
fleece blanket in a leopard print. Imagine that on a bed. Thankfully,
I thought better of it, and the fleece just sat in my stash and
marinated for a little bit. I don't remember if there was any
particular inspiration for making this fleece into a cape.
I
believe I used McCall's 7202 pattern. It was very simple to sew. I
just lined it in a plain black fleece for extra warmth. There is one
patch pocket on the right hand side, but I should've added one on the
left as well. Like I said, my hands get cold.
Thankfully,
I found a darling little black muff at a thrift store. I assumed it
was some cheap little girl faux fur muff from some fast fashion
place. It's fairly small. I just thought it would look adorable with
this cape. But when I was about to toss it in the washing machine, I
looked at the tag. Dyed rabbit fur! I'm glad I read it before I
washed it.
I
love my cape, but it is a little Extra with a capital E. And I am the
exact opposite of extra in real life. So I have to be in a certain
mood to wear this. Haha. But I love it so much.
Please enjoy my attempts at modeling. And many thanks to my mom and sister for allowing me to live out my movie-star dreams and taking these pictures.
Do
you have something you love, but you have to be in a certain mood to
wear it? Let me know in the comments!
